Correspondence: Haiti – Benin

The superior purpose of the current project is to create an intercultural encounter between young people from Benin and Haiti through the use of correspondence.

Specific goals

1. Introduce the country of correspondency as well as the principle of the project
We allow children to get to know the country of correspondency via a lot of different aspects, such as climate, history, agriculture, cooking practices and many more. Pictures and videos are used to support this.

2. The classes in Haiti as well as in Benin hold meetings, where the Kids get encouraged to tell old stories of their country and to understand them.
The students are asked to collect stories from their parents and relatives. Those are presented and discussed in class in the local language. A translator is responsible for writing the stories down and translating them into French. The stories are then swapped between the countries. Furthermore, the students should reflect on the significance and identify the characters and their messages.

3. The written correspondency of the kids is accompanied
Every child claims the help of a mediator or teacher to write a letter at least every three months.

4. The transmission of the correspondency is warranted
Letters are scanned and send via email to the country of correspondency.
